January 8, 2005:Getting there: the West Ramp and Approach
X marks the spot where the old and new bridges intersect
(at least the bottom half of the X)
A perfect mix: Two palmettos framing the approach (left)
and a sign to I-26 (right) Click on the right image and figure out
which way to turn to get to Savannah
West Ramp Gap
I was standing under this guy and making a
video of the crane lifting cross-members for
assembling the next section of the ramp.
A secure iron worker
The I-don't-know-what-to-call-it ramp (East Bay Ramp?)
- east of East Bay looking
north toward the main approach (left) and south (right)
The East Bay Ramp, from above
looking toward I-26
Looking down Meeting Street and up the on ramp
Another view from Meeting Street looking up the ramp (different light)
The I-26 approach - who said concrete curves could not be beautiful?
