May 13, 2007: Color polymorphism in Nephila pilipes

On my way back from Queenstown Lutheran Church, I often walk along the edge of the forest between MacDonalds and Queensway Secondary School. Today I was looking for another Argiode but first passed by our dragonfly stream. They were out, but not very photogenic today

But here was my prize. Several photos of this unbelievable color morph of Nephila pilipes

Closer and you can see little orange blobs that are the Argyrodes

I found yesterday's spot - but no Argiope (as yesterday), but no Nephila pilipes and only a remnant of the web with some unfocused Argyrodes

and finally a bit better focus

Then continuing to lunch - I always pass a small papaya tree. There was a nice may who pointed out the flowers - as here
