Shawn and Laura visited us for a week. Though today is Saturday and my usual spider hunting day, we took them to the Singapore Botanic Garden. I was a bit reluctant to be hauling my camera and tripod around but Shawn insisted. So I did - and am I ever glad I did. At SBG, mating damselflies, first time seen by me in Singapore. Then we went to Henderson road and walked the Henderson wave to Hort Park- There a family of monkeys - with a playful baby.
Here is a lotus with a dragonfly nymph under one of the leaves

Mating damselflies - Male above, female below
After mating, the female deposits the fertilized eggs in the water - Here is an example of depositing eggs by a dragonfly I saw in Florida last fall:
The light, clouds and leaves did not cooperate. As I tried to get closer, the background was not right and a cloud appeared and excuse after excuse. Here are a couple of other shots
Different orientation
Slightly improved position relative to the leaves
Then Shawn found a Nephila web - with a male approaching the female - clearly love is in the air
Looking along the plane of the web. The male is clearly seen to the left

And big surprise - An Argyrodes busy stealing dinner
