Camping with Adi and Laura on Zakinthos: June 1999

Discovering the Pleasure of Spontaneity

This is a story of Frank, Adi and Laura. We met while I was teaching at the University of Patras. Adi and Laura came from Romania to continue their studies and and we quickly became close friends. Adi started work with cardiac simulations and Laura explored the world of nonlinear dynamics. Each was scheduled for the master's exam in June and it was necessary for some pretreatment. To pre-celebrate their almost-success, we entered their 30+ year old Dacia and headed for Kilini where we took the ferry to Zakinthos. We drove some, found an almost deserted camping place and stopped. The photos tell the rest of our story. It all started with a ride on the Kilini Ferry to the island

and then continued on the island of Zakinthos

We drove south and found our camping place near Tartarouga

We planted our tent

and Adi was very pleased with our new home.

We explored the left coast near our tent

and we explored the right coast near our tent

and the nearby island

For three days, we lived in this place, swimming, snorkling, running, and of course (my horse) eating souvlaki. Such pretreatment resulted in success with the master's exam and so the opportunity to take the next step.
