Alexandra Hospital is more than a hospital. It is an environment for living and healing. I spent the afternoon with Rosalind Tan, the CGO, and Kim Ang, Dolliss' sister. I am organizing a group happening for Duke-NUS so that all can see what AH has brought to us.
I knew the Butterfly Trail, one of my weekend photo spots. But there was much much more as Ros took us around. Everywhere Ros has organized small areas of plants, shrubs and trees. Many walls within the hospital have been removed and replace with glass which invites the outside to come in where patients and staff enjoy being virtually outside. Here is probably the best known part of their work.
Here is the main entrance to what I call the main garden
A medicinal garden
The Butterfly Trail where their goal is 100 documented species of butterflies.
But hidden around the side, I found that there is much much more. There is an Eco Pond.
A garden adjacent to a clinic
Following Singapore's lead - a zoo toilet where you are surrounded by greenery
Back at the main garden - there is Heliconia
And these plants with a white stalk
A butterfly with an orange spot
and its face
A seed
A skipper
And if you want to see more - then visit the Alexandra Hospital Gardens
