January 12, 2013:Thomisus guangxicus and Cyrtophora cicatrosa

Heavy rain yesterday and I did not expect to find much. What a surprise.

I happened upon a crab spider hiding in the mouth of my favorite micro-orchid, Asystasia gangaticam. While setting up, I disturbed her and she emerged and moved behind the blossom and hid. I tried to coax her out and eventually she jumped into my hand and them running around, dropped down - into the web of a Cyrtophora cicatrosa. She eventually escaped - but while I was not watching. Sigh.
