This was the way I spent New Year's day - at MacRitchie Reservoir, just looking and practicing sharper focus

This little ant was crawling around a blade of something

Nice profile. John Lee has provided the identification as Ropalidia.

I think this is a wasp - but need a bit of help with identification

This I-think-its-a-wasp and a red ant

and this is the black spider that is similar to Venusta - except this web is at 45 degrees

and luck - she flew away, but there was adequate focus to capture this moment

And these red ants have been going at it for several days now
